Buitoni Riserva Wild Mushroom Agnolotti:
I recently received a sample of Buitoni’s new Riserva pasta line compliments of Buitoni & Foodbuzz for review. If you’ve read my blog you know I LOVE pasta. I was anxious to try the new riserva line but also a little skeptical because of my love for authentic Italian food. I’m not normally a fan of pre-packaged pastas but as a busy Mom sometimes prepackaged is a necessity & much better than the fast food alternatives. I love mushrooms and was quite excited that my sample was the wild mushroom Agnolotti!

With that said, I was ready to make my meal. I opened the package and followed the very simple instructions (add to boiling water-haha, doesn’t get any easier than that!). I let it cook for about 4 minutes and could tell they were ready to roll. I drained the pasta well, returned it to my pot & tossed them with extra virgin olive oil. I wanted to experience the pasta to the fullest without drowning it with other flavors, so I opted for a nice grade of extra virgin olive oil & garnished with fresh parmigiano reggiano (of which I just brought back from my trip to Italy).

I must admit, I was pleasantly surprised. The flavors were bountiful. The pasta was generously filled with fresh portobello & crimini mushrooms, imported Grana Padano, Parmesan cheeses & roasted garlic. A very hearty dish. It was slightly on the salty side but otherwise very good. Per the package there are no artificial ingredients & it’s minimally processed. The package I received was 9oz and would be plenty for 2 people. Add a salad & pair with a nice glass of wine & you have a quick & simple meal!

I hope you’ll give the Buitoni Riserva Wild Mushroom Agnolotti a try! Let me know what you top yours with!

agnolotti {pronounced: ah-nyuh-LAHT-tee} is Italian for ”priests’ caps”. They are small, stuffed crescents of pasta & are a speciality of Italy’s Piedmont region.

Buono Appetito!

Thank you so much, I have tons of fun with the blog. I am going to have to look for these in the grocery next time I’m out. Would be great to have in the freezer for those hectic nights :) I really enjoyed them au natural if you will with just the olive oil & parmigiano reggiano!

thanks for being honest… it takes alot to review a product that’s pre-made, especially when you’re a food lover AND an italian food lover. i feel the same way about pre-made stuff, but sometimes you do need something quicker and this sounds like a descent enough product to use in those times! but this could easily be made w/ some wonton wrappers and some mushrooms blitzed in the food processor then sauteed with some onions and garlic!

    thanks for the review.

Thank you for this Buitoni lead. I love mushrooms, and I never met a pasta I did not like, so I will give this product a try and let you know what I think!

It does look pretty darn good for a prepackaged pasta, I will give it a try!

Yep, I love their tortellini and tried this also. If I recall, I made the mistake of tossing it with something that drowned out the mushroom flavors, so keep it light, as suggested, with olive oil and cheese.

I bought this Agnolotti this weekend b/c I remembered you had featured it on your blog. We just ate it for dinner with marinara and WOWZA it is delicious. It’s very flavorful and light. Perfect dinner–it’s so good that we both went very light on the sauce. I will buy this again!
