Capri Restaurant – A Review

Well unless you don’t understand or read English you probably know by now that Italian food is my favorite food eva! What you may not know is why I love Italian food so much. In a nutshell, I lived in Italy for several years while I was in middle school & high school; where naturally I was spoiled by truly AMAZING authentic Italian food & my love affair with all things Italian began. So that being said I am a complete Italian food snob. Of course this is not my fault, I have my parents to thank for that!
Naturally, there are very few places that I have found outside of Italy & my own kitchen that make Italian food that I find buono “good” let alone buonissimo “really good”. So I was ECSTATIC when I came across a little restaurant called Capri located here in Raleigh, North Carolina.
It’s a very unassuming little restaurant located in the corner of a strip shopping mall of all places. You REALLY have to know it’s there to see it. You could totally pass it by and not think twice about it, but I really hope you don’t. If you would like a true Italian dining experience you HAVE to go to Capri Restaurant
Just a note, before you go let me say it is not fast food Italian. It is truly an authentic experience so sit back, order a glass of wine, munch on your pane “bread” & enjoy the company of your host, Dino. A true host with the most. He’ll charm you with his stories and his knowledge of food & wines. They have nightly specials which will delight your taste buds. I have truly not had a dish that I didn’t think was “buonissimo“!
On this particular visit to Capri, hubs & I had
Wine: 1/2 Carafe of White House Wine
Appetizer: Cozze “Mussels” alla Capri in white sauce.

Entrée’: Pork Special – Simply Delicious. There is no special name. Dino said I could call it Paula’s Pork if I liked. It was pork stuffed with spinach, mozzarella, sun dried tomatoes, & porcini mushrooms. It was swimming in a mouthwatering porcini mushroom reduction sauce & served with baby carrots & fresh green beans!

Entrée: Seafood Ravioli – Homemade ravioli stuffed with lobster, shrimp, sundried tomato & spinach. Served in a pink sauce. Okay the pictures speak for themselves. The ravioli are HUGE & overflowing with seafood! You won’t find just one little shrimp in these ravioli & the pink sauce, oh me oh my! You’ll want to have some bread nearby to sop up the remaining sauce.

Dessert: Tiramisu. Ladyfingers dipped in espresso, layered with mascarpone cream & topped with cocoa powder. This is hands down my all time favorite dessert. You won’t be disappointed!

Dessert: Lemon Sorbet. How cute was this? Very refreshing & the presentation was tops. I could have eaten several of these & I was stuffed after all the food above.

Coffee: Espresso. You just have to. It’s a REAL cup of Italian caffe’.

So are you drooling yet & ready to run over to Capri Restaurant?
Well before you do, I want to lastly mention to you they have an AMAZING wine dinner the 3rd Wednesday of every month. Hubs & I try not to miss it. There are 5 courses paired with 5 wines. You’ll want to make a reservation for this special night. You can’t get a better value than this (trust me)! So, now you know where to find me the third Wednesday of just about every month *wink wink*
Can you tell that I absolutely ADORE Capri Restaurant? I have never been disappointed with a meal at Capri & don’t think you will either. So what are you waiting for…pick up the phone call Capri Restaurant, make your reservation & when you’re there tell Dino that Paula sent you!

Buon Appetito!

Been there many times and enjoyed every meal. Dino and his staff are wonderfully accommodating and as Paula says the food never fails to please. Everyone in the Raleigh/Wake County area should try it.
Thank goodness for some authentic Italian. I’ll try it out and, if it’s as good as you say, it will be a regular. The thought of another night at Olive Garden makes me want to play in traffic and hope for the best.
Hey My Honey and I had a date night at Capri on Wednesday and it was great! I love, love, loved the service, and the food was magnificent. I had the Marsala chicken for dinner and Tiramisu for dessert. Wow!!!! The portions were great too. I had enough for lunch the next day. However I did eat all the dessert, Yum. I highly recommend it for a date.
This is real Italian fare. Do yourself a favor and skip the bogus, wannabe Italian at Olive Garden and go see Dino and staff at Capri. You wont be disappointed.
