Ciao Brian! I HAVE to get an immersion blender. Would make my life in the kitchen easier LOL. I really don’t think you’d have any problems with the immersion blender because the bread is quickly soaked in the soup mixture. BUT I think your idea sounds wonderful! The toasted bread sounds fab! Let me know how it turns out! Great suggestions!

was wondering something… I yield an immersion blender like there’s no tomorrow, but I am nervous about doing that once the bread, cheese and oil is in the pot…
what thinks you of this idea:
as the soup cooks, toast the bread with cheese and olive oil atop it. Use the immersion blender on the pot full of garlic and herbs, and then ladle that out into flat bowls, crowning each with the bread.
too francese?

Hi Beth! Sorry about that. I pushed mine through the sieve by using a large wooden spoon. If the sieve isn’t working well or is taking too long, a blender or food processor would do the job just as well Hope that helps.

This recipe is kind of confusing… the bread, garlic, etc. doesn’t go through the sieve as the holes are too small. Should I be using a blender instead to puree the whole thing? The picture looks great, and it sounds wonderful, but right now I have a big bowl of garlic flavored water on my hands.
