Now that Thanksgiving is behind & we’re all stuffed, Christmas will be here before we know it. I thought it would be the perfect time to put together a few Gift Giving Guides, if you will. People are always asking me, what should I get for a foodie, a cooking enthusiast (whatever you like to call your food fanatical friends) What do you recommend?

This is a chicken dish that takes a few ingredients and puts them together in a way you wouldn’t expect. The sauce is something to write home about. Seriously! It’s another insanely delicious dish from my Italian Poultry files. Pollo alla Senape is simply Chicken with Mustard. It’s pronounced Po-low all-a Sin-ah-pay but that’s really deceiving. It should be called Chicken with a creamy heavenly mustard sauce with traces of beer. But, well, that just doesn’t roll off the tongue like Pollo alla Senape does, now does it?

Well it’s that time of year when the weather is cooler, which for me means it’s time to fire up that oven! Yes, it’s baking time! And, in addition to baking time, it’s holiday time! Which means you might be having guests stop by! Well, if you do, or just want to impress your family or friends this is the perfect brunch item!

Pollo al Vino {Chicken w/Wine}

Hi, I’m Paula & I can’t get enough of chicken. Nope, there I said it. I feel so much better about sharing that (not that you couldn’t have figured that out by the sheer size of the poultry file here on bell’alimento). Whew! Perhaps I should start a group on Twitter or a Facebook Fan page. I’m sure I’m not the only one (considering again how very popular my chicken dishes are here) who wouldn’t mind admitting their chicken dependency too. I’m thinking of calling it “Chicks for Chicken” kinda has a nice ring to it, no?

Torta di Noci, prounounced Tore-tah d No-chi is simply a Nut Cake, Nutty Cake, Cake with Nuts. Call it what you will, it’s DEE-VINE! This is a cake that I personally will be making for Thanksgiving this year (yes, my Mom will be making her infamous Apple Pie too).
It’s a cross between a Pecan Pie & a Coffee Cake & is simply SCRUMPTIOUS. I have made it, count them, two days in a row this week already (see what I do for you, my most favorite people in the world, to test it again & again & keep shooting until I get that shot, THE shot) and there’s not a crumb left. Yes, Yes, I LOVE IT! No two ways about it.

It’s a recipe that’s near & dear to me. It’s my Mom’s Apple Pie! And I’ve had this every year for as long as I can remember, and HELLO it’s just in time for Thanksgiving too! It’s something that I don’t go without EVAH on Thanksgiving. Something about your Mom’s cooking. I know there are a gazillion apple pie recipes out there but for me there is just one. THIS ONE. My Momma’s!

So you’re thinking CHICKEN again Paula? Come on! Well, yes, it IS technically another chicken recipe but hold on, just because it’s chicken doesn’t have to mean bland or boring. You should know by now (if you’ve been following me on my culinary tales) that I don’t have your run-of-the-mill chicken recipes. Oh no, it’s one I know you’re going to want to put into your poultry files! It’s one that I’m fairly sure you probably don’t have. It’s Pollo allo Spumante. Pronounced Po-low all-oh Spu-mon-tay or Fizzy Chicken as I like to call it LOL! And I’m sure it’s one you’ll be coming back to again & again.

Some things in life are worth waiting for, and a good sauce is one of them (at least for me anyway). And no surprise then, this is one of those sauces! Ragu alla Bolognese. Pronounced bowl-own-ez-ay, it’s an amazing, rich, beautiful, robust sauce.

Before we get started this is NOT your canned cream of mushroom soup. Oh no! It’s a hearty flavorful bowl of homemade goodness. Nothing wrong with the canned version, but if that’s what you’re looking for, you won’t find it in this recipe. Zuppa di Funghi pronounced Zoo-pa d Foon-gee is semplicemente delizioso. If you love mushrooms (And, hello, we all know I do. Have you seen the sheer amount of recipes here that feature mushrooms? Just sayin.) you will ADORE this.

If you follow me on Twitter you might have heard #Plateswap mentioned in the past weeks. (And if you’re not following me, run & do that right now before I notice & don’t speak to you ever again tee hee.) Plateswap was the brainchild of Cheryl of A Tiger in the Kitchen & Ellise from Cowgirl Chef.
You may notice that I end up photographing on the same old, same old plates. Well seems I’m not the only one in the foodie world who does this. This was THE reason behind Plateswap. So naturally when I heard about this I was all in! An excuse to shop, Hell-O!
