Frappe’ alla Nutella {Nutella Milkshake}

Have you been having Nutella withdrawals? I know I have! So I thought it was time for another Nutella recipe before someone got hurt (yes it’s that serious in my house LOL) I was lucky enough to get a 750ml jar of the luscious Nutella for Christmas and it was time to crack that bad boy open (I know such restraint right, don’t get too excited I have gone through 2 other smaller jars since Christmas tee hee)!

I hadn’t had a frappe’ (pronounced fra-pay) in awhile and additionally I got a FAB stainless steel Cuisinart Immersion Blender for Christmas (Mwah, thanks Mom!) & have been itching to try it out (it’s ah-some btw, love how the bottom portion pops off for easy cleanup)! So naturally a frappe’ was in order. Oh, in case you didn’t know, frappe’ just means milkshake! But hell-low everything sounds so much better in Italian! Don’t argue, it just does!
You might have seen in one of my previous Nutella Challenge Posts the evah so popular Frozen Nutella Pops. Well they were the perfect marriage of flavors & if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it (or so said…, well someone I don’t know who, but I’m sure they did LOL) so I added in some banana to the frappe’ and it was just the right touch! Plus now it’s much healthier, I added fruit, right! I’m stickin with that.
Pssst, lean in…I’m working on a super deluxe recipe for World Nutella Day next month on February 5th. So go ahead, stock up now! You’re gonna need it! Plus I know you’ll be making tons of these frappe’s, oh yeah you will! You know, they’d even be great with some strawberries in lieu of the bananas…*swoon*
Baci!

Thanks Maria! I make one giant supersized version just for myself!
I saw this in the store the other day and thought of you and your passion for Nutella. http://www.capriflavors.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=120&products_id=1190
I heart you Greg! I think I might have to get in my car & drive over there! *drooling*
Oh. My. Goodness. I now know what I’m making for dessert tonight…and tomorrow…and the day after that… You’re right, frappe is so much more chic than milkshake!!
Thanks Rachael! Mwah! Everything sounds better in Italian ; )
Oh yes I’m having Nutella withdraw! I am so going to try this. Been in a shake kinda mood lately. Had a strawberry banana smoothie the other day, not enough.
Grazie Kathy! I can’t go too long without Nutella or it would get UGLY ; )
I saw the title and just had to pop on over. This one is a definite winner in my book. Luckily I have a little bit of nutella left to make a shake. Forget the rain. This will being the sunshine back into my house.
Ah, thanks Jenn! Mwah!
Wow, that sounds delish. Can you taste the banana in the frappe? I’m not a big fan of banana. Do you recommend anything else to replace it?
Hi Carol! Well you can def taste the banana. Strawberries would be a great substitution!
I want this now. Will get nutella over the weekend. have a good idea for it.
Thanks Penny! You can never have too much Nutella ; )
Oh yumm!! Nutella frappe, I would so love this!!
Thanks Diana! I usually have to make a few because the bambini come in & steal them out from me LOL
Gorgeous! I want one of these for lunch… I always enjoy Strawberry Nutella smoothies, too. I be this would be good with a few strawberries thrown in, too (once they’re in season, of course).
Thanks Jen! I love them with strawberries too. I throw a few frozen ones in when they’re not in season!
This looks scrumptiliumptious Paula… who could turn their head away from a Nutella Frappe…. TRES CHIC!
-Natasha
Thanks Tasha! Well I certainly can’t LOL ; )
It looks so good. But only 1 tablespoon? LOL I would use only 2 tablespoon. Strawberries would be good instead of banana.
Thanks Boomette! You could def make it more Nutella-y ; ) I love it with strawberries too!
I go over the moon for anything Nutella! I have made Nutella Hot Chocolate and it was fantastic! I can only imagine this would be as good, if not better.
Thanks Kelly! I have been known to put a spoonful in my coffee too ; ) Just sayin…
Now this looks awesome! My kid’s got 2 big containers of Nutella from Santa this year! I think I’ll see if they want to make this recipe today.
Thanks Kathy! My kids love these! Hope yours will too!
this looks to die for! A must try for me since I can not tolerate a icecream very well.
Grazie Cookie Girl! I hope it works well for you : )
OMG!!! I am going home and making one of these first thing…forget about dinner. I love nutella and this sounds like a great way to enjoy it!!
Thanks bunches Theresa! I’ve been known to have these for breakfast too..there’s fruit in it right ; )
I haven’t had nutella in forever – sounds yummy.
Audra run to the kitchen right now ; ) We must rectify that!
This sounds so like a comfort drink. Let us know how the immersion blender works out. I’ve been thinking of getting one.
Rhonda I LOVE my Cuisinart immersion blender. It’s FANTASTIC. The link is in the post if you need one. I love how the bottom portion pops off for easy cleaning. It’s sleek, powerful & gets the job done!
geeeeeez Paula I must make this with non fat cause of the 10 in 2010 HUH!!! HA!!
Doodles it has fruit in it ; ) & only 1 tbsp of Nutella…In my book that’s healthy!
I got a Cuisinart immersion blender too for Christmas! Might have to stock up on some Nutella!
Mardi! It’s awesome. Don’t you love it! There’s a link in an earlier comment for an 11 POUND jar of Nutella. I’m in love!
You are absolutely hilarious! And that looks soo good! Do you think I could pull this off in a regular blender? I don’t see why it wouldn’t work…
Ciao Kurious Kitteh! Why thank you. Yes, absolutely a regular blender would work just fine! Happy blending!
Whoa! I am on a chocolate jag.. give me more… love nutella!
Deana, no need to worry we will always have Nutella recipes here ; ) and of course Chocolate as well because I have a wicked sweet tooth ; )
mm delicious! I just made one *since I had all the ingredients on hand* i think the 1 tsp of vanilla could easily be cut back to 1/2 tsp (and the nutella could be bumped up to 2 tbs : )) Great suggestion, thanks! finally used up my last black banana from the fridge
Thanks a bunch Ann! I’m always happy when people make adjustments to their tastebuds, that’s what cooking is all about : )
This looks so good! From reading your previous recipes with nutella, I tried it, and am addicted. Thanks, lol, Thanks for sharing your love of this delicious product, btw where is your nutella made? I heard each country’s recipe is different, I can only find Canada’s which has palm oil, but wanted the American or Italian version, which i heard has a different oil.
Ciao Angie! I’m so glad I could bring you over to the Nutella side ; ) I just checked the jar in my cabinet and this one is made in Canada. There is def a difference in taste from the Italian one (which is, to me, less sweet). I’m not sure of the difference in oils, their website might have that info ; ) Hope that helps.
Brilliant! My daughter is OBSESSIVE over nutella, and I can’t say I blame her! Since she was diagnosed with Celiac’s we’ve been trying to find ways to use it other than her favorite (and banned) way of spreading on graham crackers. I am making this for her tomorrow morning!!!! THANK YOU!
Jen, you totally made my night. I’m so glad I could help. In fact, there is an entire NUTELLA category on bell’alimento so hopefully a few of them will work out for her as well : ) You can find the Nutella category on the main page of the site!
Just made this shake tonight. It was fabulous and a big hit with the fam. I might try the Nutella/Banana pops too. They look like a great snack for me!
Thanks Paula.
Mwah! Thanks Lisa! So glad y’all lurved it!
nooooo!!! i shouldn’t have seen this in the middle of the night! now i want some! =) looks delicious!
Mitzi, it’s great for breakfast too ; )
My daughter is going to flip over this, she LUV’s Nutella and luv’s banana’s. She just smears a little on a banana and will eat it like that. And it sounds healthy to boot. I might be able to get my son who is constantly making milkshakes to drink this even though he’s not a fan of Nutella. Thanx for the recipe!
Quadruple YUM!!! Can’t wait to try.
I’m SO making this Nutella Milkshake for my boys too!!! Thanks for the recipe!!!
I made a nutella smoothie this a.m…………..danged good!!
This is going to make my son so happy! I am going to surprise him withthis one before school tomorrow, thanks! I will keep searching for your Nutella recipes.
Wow-I’m about speechless! Milkshakes and nutella are my 2 favorite things? How have I not seen your site before?! And you have a whole category for nutella??!!(sniff, sniff!) fabulous!!
Hubby is out tonight, guess what I’m havin for dinner? And I just got choc milk today, so I think I’ll try it with that!
Grazie, Mille grazie!!
looks good
do u know how much this will make?
I didnt have bananas so I substituted the banana for a couple small scoops of vanilla ice cream.
It was yummy!
Hey, I just made it and it tasted great, but it tasted more like a banana milkshake with an aftertaste of Nutella. Did I make it wrong or is that how it is supposed to taste? When you put 1 banana – sliced, I used a whole sliced banana.
This is yummy, but I felt like it was a little too much banana for me, because it tasted more like banana shake with a little nutella flavor. Although it’s overindulgent, I like to use half a banana, a couple tablespoons of nutella, and 1/3 cup of vanilla ice cream. Delish!
que es frappe o batida
this is amazing
