I don’t have a waffle make but this is what i do with pancakes and think would be EVEN BETTER (i that is posable) with waffles. I love to mix my FMIL (future mother in law’s) home made granola into the batter which has nuts, dried berries, coconut, and oats, then when they are done i top them with unsweetened coconut, fresh bananas, sprinkle with cinnamon and use a bit of honey instead of syrup because we are always out of my dads real maple syrup (he send its from NY to California for us)…

so many of these sound good, im going to have to try them all :) yummm
happy early valentines day everyone <3

So I tried to make bacon peanut brittle on Sunday to take to the last event of Meat Week. Unfortunately, it was a dismal failure, basically it is un-brittle. It is about the texture of molasses, but that is what made me realize what it is really best for: topping pancakes and waffles. It is sticky sweet, buttery, vanilla-y, and full of smoky bacon goodness with crunchy peanuts. Score!

  147. On February 9th, 2010 at scrapper al Says:

Oh my goodness, this would be great for my family. Since we live in Quebec, maple syrup is definitely a must. There also must be fresh fruit, and, if we are really decadent, ice cream! 186. On February 9th, 2010 at CArolQ Says:

Waffles are wonderful . . . too bad my waffle-maker died a while ago :(.

Back when I did have a working waffle-maker, I loved to melt orange marmalade and pour that onto my waffle. My husband likes maple syrup but maybe I’d try Nutella if I had a heart-shaped waffle maker ~ ohh, with fresh strawberries. (This is what happens when I de-lurk.)

  187. On February 9th, 2010 at Caitlin Says:

My favorite waffle topping combo would have to be the way they are served up at my favorite brunch place (which happens to be an old flour mill with working waterwheel turned restaurant - how fitting)… The waffles are made fresh, drizzled with Vermont maple syrup, piled high with sliced strawberries and blackberries, then finished off with a little peak of lightly sweetened fresh whipped cream. They’ll even throw chocolate chips into the waffle batter if you ask…

  188. On February 9th, 2010 at redkathy Says:

The best way to top a waffle (in my book) is a creamy chocolate-peanut butter sauce. The saltiness of the peanut butter brings out the rich flavors of the chocolate. I would love a waffle right now.

Peanut butter and for real maple syrup. YUMM_O

  206. On February 10th, 2010 at Nathalie Says:

This is my first time posting on your blog — I’ve been following it for quite some time and must say I love your recipes. My favorite topping for waffles? Some homemade lemon curd and fresh strawberries with whip cream on the side. And of course, a steaming cup of fresh coffee to accompany it.

  207. On February 10th, 2010 at Phoebe Says:

Oh my god my waffle iron is a million years old and pathetic. I still make waffles with it, I just have to re-toast them in the toaster so they get crispy. I would eat waffles every day if I had a new one. I usually make the waffles the flavorful part (oatmeal, maple flavoring, chopped nuts, flax seeds, etc.) and then just top them with butter. Sometimes I sprinkle powdered sugar on them but never syrup. Why ruin the crunch with goop?
