Kitchen Renovation: Demo Days
There’s no turning backĀ now! Demolition has finally started. I’ve been told demolition is the easiest of renovation phases, I think they might be right. Apparently we’re really good at tearing stuffed up. Now we’ll see how good we are putting things back together ; ) You can check out our FIRST VIDEO to see what things looked like before we started swinging the sledgehammer. Which btw I highly recommend. I’m feeling like I can conquer any project at the moment (key word moment ask me again next week and the answer might be different).
We’ve taken down cabinets, knocked out our pantry and removed our desk. Why would we do that? Well quite simply we need more counter space. That area will now give us an additional 7′ of counter space and cabinets! Not bad eh. What am I going to do about a pantry? That will be relocated to our laundry room which is right behind that chalk board door you see, until then we’ve temporarily relocated the pantry to our dining room ; ) And as for my desk, I’m relocating myself and my trusty hot pink laptop to the dining room table. The things a girl does for extra counter space. It’s not all that bad, I do have the pantry at my fingertips and a much comfier chair ; )
Now to just figure out how to get all this sheet rock dust off of everything and clean up this mess …
Here’s a peak at what we’ve been up to:
Baci!

love the video…the work is going great, can’t wait to see the end result.
Thank YOU, we can’t either : )
Squeeeeeee!!!
I know I can hardly stand it : ) xoxo
Looks like a fun project. Bigger stove and more counter space… nice.
Thanks Pete! We’re looking forward to giving our ManPans a workout in the new kitchen : )
How fun Paula!!! I can’t wait to see the transformation!
Thank you Heather xoxo
I remember well the 7 1/2 weeks in 2009 when we had our 1970′s harvest gold kitchen redone. Thought I would lose my mind at some points, but we survived – and I love the new kitchen. good luck!!
Hi Liz! I will survive is going to be my theme song for the next month or so ; )
Excitement mounts! Can’t wait to see the new appliances!!
As soon as it’s all done you’re coming over for dinner ; ) xoxo
How exciting! I’ve never done a kitchen renovation; however, my inlaws did a few years back and it took them months–looks like you are moving along rather quickly. I can’t wait to see your new appliances and kitchen.
Hi Sweet Katie! Thank you. The first phase is coming along quickly but there’s a LONG way to go : ) xoxo
Paula, it was fun hearing your voice in the video and seeing your renovation in “3D” — your extra counter space will be a blessing! Sheet rock dust…. aaarrrrghh. Hope it’s all back together soon!
Ah thanks sweets (I can’t stand to hear my own voice on tape gah ; ) And yes the sheet rock dust is a hot mess! Literally xoxo
How exciting! I can’t wait for the next update!
Thanks Angie! Appliances & paint are up next! Squeeee!
Great video…I need to start doing mine – you are so on top of it!
Thank you. Can’t wait to see your kitchen reno unfold. I know it’s going to be beauty-full!
Can’t wait to see it when it’s all done!!! I love looking at new kitchens! We renovated our kitchen a few years ago, enjoyed it for a few months, then found out we had to move across the country! UGH!
Thanks Lisa! Oh no, that had to be heart breaking after all that hard work. But moving a gazillion times in my life (hello Air Force Brat) I understand that sometimes it’s necessary : )
Lookin’ good girlie.
Why thank you, now you need to come visit & help us paint ; )
Ahhhh! I am having flashbacks to our kitchen remodel, but it is so worth it in the end!
I keep having to remind myself of that! Thanks for the encouragement!
