Topsail Beach, NC
The beach is my happy place. I’ve always been in awe of the power and beauty of the ocean. I could sit on the beach for hours and hours just watching, listening and of course napping. Napping is inevitable. The ocean calms me. No matter how much chaos and craziness is in my life I feel calm beside the ocean. It’s as if takes all of my stress and washes it away with the tide. I need more beach time in my life. Plain and simple.
This past weekend we tagged along with the hubs on one of his work trips to Jacksonville. We stayed in nearby Topsail beach so we could maximize our beach time. Quite frankly I don’t know why we haven’t thought to tag along before now. Oh yes work. I’m sure it was because we were TOO busy between work and activity commitments. I’m striving to work smarter and not harder so we can enjoy more trips like this one.
In case you were wondering, I captured all of these photos with my Iphone. What you didn’t see is me almost getting knocked over knee deep in the ocean trying to get said shots. True story. Topsail beach is clearly beautiful. It goes on for miles (or so it seems) and is a shell collectors dream. The public access was fantastic. Free parking and even showers to rinse the sand off before returning to the car. Okay well we all know ALL the sand isn’t coming off but it was nice to be able to rinse off. There were hardly any crowds. We pretty much had the beach to ourselves. August is the perfect time to hit the beaches.
The boys are definitely drawn to the water too. They loved jumping over the waves,
throwing sand at each other making sand castles and soaking up the sun. I think next time we’ll have to invest in some boogie boards. They were quite smitten with the other kids boards. Who knows maybe I’ll even try it too. Or not. Who am I kidding? That would be such fodder for You Tube. I think I’ll leave that to the bambini.
Besides they’re way more photogenic. I mean I have the beach hair down pat but the beach body needs some work ; )
They’re already asking when we’re going back. If it was up to me it would be next weekend. But reality calls.
Now who wants to detail my car? It’s full of what else, sand.
