A Very Caffeinated Affair
If you know me you know I love my coffee. There are few foods and beverages that I am
selective persnickety about, coffee is one of them. I am spoiled. I admit that. I have had coffee in Italy for years. I know what it should taste like. I know what it should smell like. Look like. We owned a Saeco Magic DeLuxe that we adored. I very rarely would drink coffee outside of my home because it just didn’t measure up. We pushed that button on our beloved Saeco every morning, afternoon and some nights for years. Until, sniff sniff, she went kaput. It was a sad day until our new SAECO XELSIS arrived.
Is that not the sexiest piece of counter art you have ever seen? I can’t even refer to it as a machine. It’s entirely too beautiful. And this baby isn’t just a looker, oh no he’s smart too. Insanely smart. So smart one you’ve customized it to your liking at the touch of your fingerprint he’ll produce a piping hot cup of your choice of NINE beverages in the blink of an eye. This brainy beauty pretty much does everything but the dishes.
I planned an entire dinner party around this beautiful beverage maker. When I needed inspiration for the table settings I turned to the best source possible,
Martha Pinterest. There I was inspired to make espresso dyed napkins (which btw would go a lot smoother if you didn’t purchase stain resistant napkins sigh) and place card settings that are made by dipping coffee mugs into espresso and then pressing them into your butcher paper table cloth. Creating the perfect circle for you to hand write your guests name in.
Just a note, your hands will stain and smell like espresso for the next 24 hours. Not that that’s a bad thing just don’t be alarmed should you try this. To finish off the table, we simply filled an Illy coffee bean tin with fresh flowers (tip: cut the stems low so your guests can see each other without having to bob around tall centerpieces to speak to each other).
Now that the table was all set it was time for the food. We started off with an appetizer tray of Castelvetrano olives and a selection of cheese and crackers. You can never go wrong with olives and cheese. Then it was onto our menu:

To end our meal we enjoyed espresso from the SAECO XELSIS (our personal barista) just the way each guest requested it.
