Rosemary Infused Olive Oil
Instead of giant parties I like to host smaller holiday get togethers during the month of December (and really all year round for that matter). Entertaining can be stressful though, let’s face it. To keep my anxiety in check there are a few things that I always try to do so that I (the hostess with the mostest – I have an apron that says so which makes it true right?) can enjoy myself and our company. Because if Mamma ain’t happy no one is happy right?
Here they are: My Top 5 Tips for Holiday Hosting:
#1 LESS IS MORE: Keep it SIMPLE! The decorations, the menu. Less is truly more. It’s also probably not the best time to be trying out a brand new untested recipe for the first time. Stick with your favorite dishes you could make standing on your head with your eyes closed.
#2 PREP: Do as much as possible the morning or afternoon of (or even the night before). You’ll be more relaxed while cooking and then there’s less chance of overcooking something.
#3 Set out a selection of APPETIZERS & DRINKS: I always have a tray of appetizers as well as a bottle or two of wine and water out when my guests arrive. Again just something simple but delicious. A selection of Creminelli Salumi , a variety of sliced cheese, olives, crackers and perhaps fruit on a beautiful tray will keep guests happy while you’re finishing up dinner.
#4 Let your guests bring DESSERT. When they ask: “Is there anything I can bring?” My answer is always absolutely how about dessert? Go ahead and take them up on it! Wine and bread are always my alternate suggestions.
#5 HAPPIES. I like to have a small edible gift ready to give to my guests as they’re heading home. It could be something as simple as homemade flavored olive oils like the rosemary infused olive oil pictured above, an easy homemade pure vanilla extract, etc. Just a little something from my kitchen to theirs!

What You Will Need:
- extra virgin olive oil
- fresh rosemary sprigs
What To Do:
- Place 2-3 fresh rosemary sprigs into jar of choice. The more rosemary sprigs you use the stronger the flavor of oil will be. The less you use, the more subtly flavored the oil will be.
- Pour olive oil into jar so that it covers rosemary. Place cork, lid onto jar to seal.
- Store in cool dry place.

I love infused oils and keep them stocked at all times. I love the idea of making them homemade. Love your tips too!
I love this idea. Do you know how long the the oil will keep?
