Nutella Banana Marshmallow Creme Panino
I visited Chicago for the first time last month. I have to say I wish I’d had more time to hang around and get to know the windy city (which btw she was) a little better. Outside of working almost non-stop while we were there I did manage to squeeze in time for a lip smacking good meal at The Purple Pig. Ehem, here is where I take a moment to tell you that I (we – actually I dined with the loverly Meredith and Leslie) paid for our meal before I wax poetic about it.
It was my first visit to the cheese, swine and wine restaurant. It’s not the biggest place in the world and was definitely PACKED for a Wednesday evening (of course I am not a city girl and this could be the case every night and after eating their food I wouldn’t doubt it). We squeezed our way through the crowd making our way to the bar (duh) and ordered some drinks. Standing around trying to look cool we quickly spied 2 open seats at the other end of the bar directly in front of the teeny tiny kitchen area. I “think” I might have almost knocked someone over trying to get them. No longer looking cool. Sigh. But we got the seats and that’s all that matters right?

Pork neck bone “gravy” with Ricotta Smear
Roasted bone marrow with parsley tossed with lemon vinaigrette plus flaked sea salt
Burrata (which they have flown in from Italy)
Mussels with chorizo
Scallops on lemon grass skewers
Osso Bucco served over a bed of creamy polenta
Nutella banana marshmallow creme panino
Every. Single. Dish was amazing. Just when we thought it couldn’t get any better the next dish did. Insane. We ended the meal with this dessert sandwich. It’s sticky, ooey, gooey and worth every extra napkin I had to find. I could have ordered another one but alas I showed a little restraint (I know after 6 dishes).

What You Will Need:
- crusty bread - sliced into a 6" section
- half banana - sliced lengthwise
- 1 tablespoon Nutella
- 1 tablespoon marshmallow creme (fluff)
What To Do:
- Slice your bread in half lengthwise. On one side of the bread smear nutella. On the other half smear marshmallow creme. Place banana slices on top of one side. Top with other to form sandwich.
- Place sandwich onto a hot panini press. Carefully press down and cook for 1-2 minutes or until top is golden and inside is warm.
