About
Wow…About me? Little ol’ (you didn’t say old did you tee hee) me? Where to start? What would you like to know LOL!…I’m guessing you don’t want my whole life story so here we go in a nutshell…
I was born in Georgia, but had the honor of being raised (or schlepped LOL) around the States & world thanks to my Daddy being in the military. I am indeed a proud Air Force Brat! Go Blue! One of my many homes was in ITALY (did you just have an ah ha moment?). Where I fell in love. Yes deeply, madly, passionately, head over heels in love with ITALY from the moment our plane landed (no it’s not a cliché)! I loved and continue to LOVE everything about ITALY! It’s culture, its people, its architecture, and especially its FOOD! Okay maybe not everything…perhaps the one thing I don’t like is the distance that I am from it now. Just sayin’ would be nicer if it were slightly closer! Santa are you listening LOL!

I am not a professional chef (I did not go to culinary school) although the school of learning on the fly is quite underrated! I am just a cook. Someone who is passionate about food, & yep you guessed it, Italian food. My recipes are all authentic and come from the many years that I lived in Italy & from my trips back to visit. Times that I sat in a neighbors kitchen and watched, stirred & occasionally got my hand slapped for trying to sneak a taste LOL! Times that I ate at restaurants and had to go back & recreate what I ate. Times that I harassed people until they gave me secret family recipes. Times…well you get the picture. It’s authentic!
My food philosophy is simply “beautiful food doesn’t have to be complicated”. Italian food is about simple, quality ingredients combined with love and are meant to be shared with family & friends! Punto! (period)
Why bell’alimento you ask? Bell’Alimento is Italian for beautiful food (another ah ha moment) It’s pronounced bell all-e-men-to. After my friends coerced me into starting this food blog (have I thanked you lately? You know who you are ; ) I needed a name. & well being my obvious love for Italian food I knew the name had to be Italian and had to convey meaning & voila bell’alimento was born.
I am flattered & honored that you stopped by to see my food & my food photography (yep, I am indeed the cook, the dishwasher, the writer, the photographer, the… well you get the picture) I wouldn’t have imagined when I started this blog earlier this year that anyone other than well my family & close friends would visit. so GRAZIE MILLE for stopping by! Mwah!
I love to hear from you & I do try and answer each & every one of your questions so feel free to stalk the comment boards or email anytime LOL If you can’t get enough of bell’alimento you can also find me over on TWITTER & FACEBOOK!
Yeah, I like to talk…did you notice that too ?

PS…Si’ infatti, parlo L’Italiano ; )
Hello,
Is there any way to get rid of the twitter, facebook, etc. symbols on the left side of the recipe that make it a pain to read easily? They cover part of the recipe during scrolling so it takes more time.
Thank you
Your website is a treasure trove of wonderful memories. We were stationed in Aviano the same time your father was and I believe you know my daughter, Claudia. I would love to see an authentic recipe for aranchini (rice balls).
Ah, thank you! YES I love Claudia {& the rest of the gang as well ; )} ! And we do have a recipe for arancini here you go: http://www.bellalimento.com/2010/05/31/arancini-alla-siciliana-sicilian-croquettes/

Well… Hello from Italy, then! It’s always nice “knowing” someone who loves Italy (and Italian cuisine… but this is easy, I think) so much!
Wow! What a fantastic food blog, I can’t believe I just found it. I love Italian food, I spent some time there as a teenager and although I live closer than ever now (in Madrid) it’s been awhile so I basically experience Italy by food these days! Anyway, thanks for the lovely recipes and pictures!
Love your website and recipes truly italian . This year it was my house as usual to fo the traditionalXmas eve dinner. I actually stumbled (iterally) onto your web page and just loved it,easy yet elegant. I did your fruit di mare linguine pasta and dessert tiramisui and both turned out amazing . I love cooking Italian dishes, I too have visited Italy, my parents are both from Italy, and when I finally got to visit Italy, they are from naples and the amalfi coast, I feel in love with italy and did not want to come back home. Well anyway love again your website and recipes
